Juventus Trash Stubborn Napoli 1-0

Juventus eventually won Napoli after a very tough encounter with a late goal coming from Simone Zaza at the 89th minutes of the match.

The win now takes Juventus to the top of Serie A table with 57 points while Napoli who was earlier on top now trail Juventus with one point separating both teams.

It will be recalled that Napoli won the first leg of the match, but Simone's only goal in this present encounter was the decisive factor in the match.

Juventus will no prepare to go for their UEFA Champions league match against Bayern as leaders of Serie A.

Determined Chelsea Trash Newcastle 5-1 At Stamford Bridge

A determined Chelsea side defeated Newcastle 5-1 at Stamford Bridge to move to the twelfth position on the premier league table after match 26.

Diego Costa opened the scoring for Chelsea within five minutes of play, while Pedro scored the second goal in the nine minutes of play. Willian added his name on the score sheet in the seventeenth minutes of play, making Chelsea end the first half by 3-0.

It was obvious that Guus Hiddinks men were very determined as former Barcelona forward Pedro scored his second goal in the 49 minutes making the score line to be 4-0, while Traore poked in an 83 minutes fifth goal which confirmed Chelsea's determination.

However, Newcastle got a consolation goal in the 90th minutes through Townsend, but the damage had been done by Chelsea, hence the goal was less significant.

A win or draw for Newcastle would have moved them out of the relegation zone, but they remain there now with 24 points and are seated on the eighteenth position on the table.

Ronaldo Score Twice To Keep Madrid Hope Alive

Cristiano Ronaldo was up and doing for Real Madrid as they beat Athletic club 4-2 in Santiago Bernebeau. The win takes Madrid to second position on the table with 53 points after 24 matches in the league, while they hope that Athletico Madrid will either draw or lose in her next match.

Madrid opened scoring in the first three minutes through a goal scored by Ronaldo and assisted by Karim Benzema, before Eraso leveled up for Athletic Club.

Before half time Zidane's men extended the lead with goals coming from James Rodriguez and Tony Kroos in the 37 and 45 minutes respectively, leaving the score line at 3-1.

Cristiano Ronaldo widened the gap in the 87 minutes when he scored the fourth goal for his side, before Elustondo scored the second goal for Athletic Club, making the scoreline 4-2 by end of time.

FOOTBALL QUOTE FOR TODAY

"It will be difficult to get into the top four now, we have to somehow move on" - Wayne Rooney reacts after United's 2-1 defeat by Sunderland.

Sunderland Open Manchester United's Healing Wound

Situations seemed to be getting better for Manchester United after their last two games where they won the first by 3-1 and drew the second match by 1-1.However, things turned sour for United this afternoon when Sunderland opened their healing wound by beating them 2-1.

Wahbi Khazri's early goal in the first three minutes through a free-kick put the host ahead, before Anthony Martial leveled up. Interestingly the host scored a second goal through a corner kick taken by Khazri and converted to a goal by Lamine Kone's header.

The win is a boost for Sunderland who have at least increased their hope of moving away from the relegation zone which is also dependent on their performance in the next match.

Manchester United who are fifth on the table with 41 points are now being trailed by Southampton and West Ham who are on 40 points each, while the margin between United and Manchester City who are in the fourth position has increased in a geometrical progression.
