Determined Chelsea Trash Newcastle 5-1 At Stamford Bridge
A determined Chelsea side defeated Newcastle 5-1 at Stamford Bridge to move to the twelfth position on the premier league table after match 26.
Diego Costa opened the scoring for Chelsea within five minutes of play, while Pedro scored the second goal in the nine minutes of play. Willian added his name on the score sheet in the seventeenth minutes of play, making Chelsea end the first half by 3-0.
It was obvious that Guus Hiddinks men were very determined as former Barcelona forward Pedro scored his second goal in the 49 minutes making the score line to be 4-0, while Traore poked in an 83 minutes fifth goal which confirmed Chelsea's determination.
However, Newcastle got a consolation goal in the 90th minutes through Townsend, but the damage had been done by Chelsea, hence the goal was less significant.
A win or draw for Newcastle would have moved them out of the relegation zone, but they remain there now with 24 points and are seated on the eighteenth position on the table.
