SPORT QUOTE FOR TODAY

Arsenal Throw Away Important Three Point At Emirate Stadium

Gunners confirmed yesterday that they are not truly interested in the premier league title as they lost to Swansea City at Emirate Stadium.

The loss denied them the opportunity to level on point with Tottenham who are currently second on the table.

The match against Swansea City was an all important match for Gunners and nothing else was needed than a win. Though Gunners were major contenders, but the defeat makes it doubtful and questions Arsenal's dream which seems to be a mirage.

The win also serve as Swansea's second consecutive defeat of Arsenal at Emirate stadium, the first being in May 2015.

Though title winners may lose a match, but this loss is not in anyway necessary and is a heavy set-back to Arsenal who were also beaten at Emirate Stadium by Barcelona in the Champions League less than two weeks ago.

Juan Mata's Goal Against Watford Give United Hope of Top Four

Juan Mata was the hero at Old Trafford yesterday when he scored a late free-kick to give Louis Van Gaal's United a hope of finishing top four in the premier league.

The win is United's seventh league defeat of Watford, ending Watford's hope of coming to top ten for the time being.

United's win also make them level on point with fourth placed team Manchester City, who still have an outstanding match to play.

Hope was rekindled at Old Trafford at United's win, temporarily suspending the doubt of Van Gaal who had recorded four straight wins in all competitions.

Liverpool Trash Manchester City At Anfield, Avenge Cup Final Loss

Liverpool mauled Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield, moving to Eighth position on the table and with one more outstanding match to play.

The win also doubles as a formal means of avenging the cup final loss which they lost to City at Wembley through penalty shootouts.

This is Manchester City's third successive defeat in the premier league in the past seven years and it has also left them trailing league leaders Leicester City with ten points.

They they have an outstanding, it also makes them level on point with Manchester United who have had two consecutive wins bringing them closer to top four at City's expense.

West Ham Kill Tottenham's Hope of Coming To Top of Premiership, Beat Spurs 1-0

West Ham beat Tottenham yesterday 1-0 to frustrate their dream of coming to the top of the premiership table. A win on the part of Tottenham would have taken them to the top of the table.

Anthonio's seven minute strike gave West Ham the win, ending Tottenham's six game unbeaten record and denying them an opportunity to go top. Leicester remain on top.

Manchester United Dare A Determined Watford

Watford will be hoping to get three points in their match today when they travel to Old Trafford to face Luis Van Gaal Men.

Their past six league meetings have been in favour of Manchester United who have beaten them home and away in all meetings.

Watford who are currently twelfth on the table with 37 points will need to win today's match and see the possibility of  either going eighth or ninth position, but that will also depend on outcome of other matches.

On the contrary, Manchester United will be hoping to win and level up with Manchester City, but that will also depend on outcome of City's match today and their outstanding.

Liverpool Set To Get Pound Of Flesh From Manchester City

Liverpool will be bent on getting their pound of flesh today, when they host Manchester City at Anfield in a must-win premier league match that will affect the position of both teams.

Manchester City denied Liverpool the Capital One Cup trophy when both teams met in the final of the tournament after penalty shootouts and will travel to Liverpool to face Liverpool.

Both teams need a win in today's match. Liverpool will be hoping to win and move to either eight or seventh position with one outstanding match left, while Manchester City will hope to grab a win and increase the gap between them and United.

Interestingly, the two teams have an outstanding left, due to their meeting in the final of the Capital One Cup and will necessarily have to win those matches to keep their dreams alive.

Arsenal Must Beat Swansea City Today To Keep Top Four Dream And Title Race Alive

Arsene Wenger men must beat Swansea City today at Emirate to keep their dream of remaining in top four and possibly keep the hope of the title race alive.

Arsenal are currently third on the table with 51 points and a win will take them to 54 points, hoping that Tottenham will lose. However, they are trailed by Manchester City who will be hosted by Liverpool today and still have an outstanding match to play.

Wenger's men lost last at Emirate in the Champions League when Barcelona defeated them by 0-2 and will definitely not want to do same today when they host Swansea City today.

A draw for Arsenal today may send them to the fourth position if  Manchester City wins today and win in her outstanding and this may not tell well of Gunners.

Tottenham May Go On Top of Premier League Table Today

The Spurs will have an opportunity to go to the top of the premier league table today, if they beat West Ham at home today, though they will be tied on points with Leicester City, but goal difference will give them the edge.

Tottenham are currently second on the table trailing Leicester City who yesterday were forced to a 2-2 draw at home by West Bromwich.

Tottenham have 54 points and will need all the forces of luck to make up, as a draw will not guarantee them of going to the top, rather they will be trailed by Arsenal with one point if the Gunners eventually win.

CHELSEA STAY IN TOP TEN DEPENDS ON WATFORD, LIVERPOOL, EVERTON AND STOKE CITY RESULT

Chelsea beat Norwich City 1-2 to move to the eighth position on the premier league table, but that will to a large extent depend on results of matches today.

Stoke City who trail and tie Chelsea on 39 points will take on Newcastle United today and a draw will certainly move them above the blues, while a win puts them above with three points different.

Everton are currently tenth position with 38 points and will need an outright win to keep the blues behind, while a draw will lead to checking goal difference. Watford who are currently on twelfth position with 37 points must travel to Old Trafford and get an outright win to enable them move above the blues.

Liverpool will however face the big test today as they host Manchester City in a must-win encounter that will determine if they must go back to top ten today.

Chelsea will however be hoping that things work in their favour as most teams play today.

Chelsea Win Against Southampton Take Them Close To Top Ten

Chelsea became the hero as they came from behind to win 2-1 at St Mary's and end Southampton's seven-match unbeaten run.

Southampton played better in the first-half and eventually took the lead through Shane Long.

The Irishman pounced on an awful Baba Rahman mistake to dink over goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois just before half-time.

That error cost Rahman his place at half-time, with Guus Hiddink replacing him with Kenedy - a move that helped change the game.

Cesc Fabregas' equalising goal was a touch fortunate, with Fraser Forster's momentary hesitation seeing the Spaniard's cross nestle in the far corner.

Gradually, Chelsea are now moving closer to the tenth position on the table  after the win as they are currently on the eleventh position with 36 points but that will also be determined by the outcome of Everton's match who trail Chelsea with 35 points.

Barcelona Trash Stubborn Sevilla 2-1 To Maintain Top Position

It was a crucial win at Camp Nou as Lionel Messi and  Gerard Pique take Barca closer to La Liga title
Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique lifted Barcelona to a 2-1 victory against Sevilla at the Camp Nou in round 26 of La Liga. The Blaugranas enjoyed 69 percent of possession, created 17 scoring chances and attempted 13 shots, with eight of them on target and two hitting the posts.

The Catalans started the game clearly determined to extend their unbeaten streak to 34 games, a run that interestingly started after their defeat in Sevilla in the reverse fixture in late October.

Shockingly, it was the visitors who scored the opener after a fast counterattacking run down the left wing. From that point on, however, the Blaugranas went on to dominate the thrilling match in an even more commanding manner by upping the tempo another notch and ended up imposing their superiority thanks to the individual talent of their many world-class stars.

Although Sevilla continued to ask questions of the hosts' defence until the final whistle, the Catalans' narrow win was fully deserved given their determination to chase the opponents' goal more decisively.
