The mood in England seemed to be a that of celebration when Manchester City disclosed to the public that Pep Guardiola has been confirmed as the next manager of Manchester City.
However, it was a different thing for United who had made frantic effort to get the Spaniard at Old Trafford. This is the third time Guardiola would turn down offer from Sir Alex Ferguson, who had worked tirelessly to get the Spaniard to Old Trafford.
Guardiola was approached by Ferguson to come and assist him in 2008 with the hope of handing over the club to him but he rejected.
