Barcelona Trash Stubborn Sevilla 2-1 To Maintain Top Position

It was a crucial win at Camp Nou as Lionel Messi and  Gerard Pique take Barca closer to La Liga title
Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique lifted Barcelona to a 2-1 victory against Sevilla at the Camp Nou in round 26 of La Liga. The Blaugranas enjoyed 69 percent of possession, created 17 scoring chances and attempted 13 shots, with eight of them on target and two hitting the posts.

The Catalans started the game clearly determined to extend their unbeaten streak to 34 games, a run that interestingly started after their defeat in Sevilla in the reverse fixture in late October.

Shockingly, it was the visitors who scored the opener after a fast counterattacking run down the left wing. From that point on, however, the Blaugranas went on to dominate the thrilling match in an even more commanding manner by upping the tempo another notch and ended up imposing their superiority thanks to the individual talent of their many world-class stars.

Although Sevilla continued to ask questions of the hosts' defence until the final whistle, the Catalans' narrow win was fully deserved given their determination to chase the opponents' goal more decisively.
