Mosquito-Borne Disease May Scare Visitors Away From Rio De Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games

The out-break of Zika virus in Brazil and other parts of the world has become an issue of concern to Brazilian officials as they prepare for hosting of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

It was announced on Sunday night in Rio City's Hall, that Organizers would mount extra inspections around venues in the month before the opening ceremony as Brazil has witnessed cases rising in geometrical progression since the out-break of the Zika virus in Brazil.

Organizers also allay fear that the virus will scare tourists away from the city, as a good number of tourists who had earlier visited Brazil including three Britons, returned back to their countries with Zika, contributing to the spread of the disease.

The Olympic Games is generally known to attract visitors and tourists, but with the out-break of the Zika virus disease, the Rio Olympic Games may experience low turn-out of tourists, for fear that they do not contact the mosquito borne disease.
