Liverpool Maul Manchester United In Europa

Sturridge scores Liverpool first goal through the penalty spot giving them a lead in the first half

Liverpool emerged victorious against Manchester United at Anfield after beating the Red Devils 2-0 in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Europa League.

Sturidge opened scoring for Liverpool in the first half through a penalty played in twenty minutes of play giving Liverpool the lead before half time.

Second half of play saw Firmino seal up winning in the 73rd minutes, giving Liverpool the advantage needed to go to Old Trafford.

Liverpool who lost the Capital One Cup final to Manchester City will look up to Europa as a means of winning silverware this season.
