UEFA To Introduce Goal Line Technology In Tournaments.

Photo:FIFA.com

The European governing football body UEFA is set to Introduce the goal line technology into football tournaments organised by the Federation.

This is the latest development coming from the Federation. Goal line technology could be introduced in the Champions League and Europa tournaments for clubs next season, as decision will be made in January 2016.

The issue of introducing the goal line system into European tournaments was discussed and it looks as if members were positive about it.

The system is already in use by Premiership, Bundesliga and France Ligue 1 nothing then is wrong with introducing it into UEFA.

NFF Is Not In Line With The Provisions Of The FOI Act

Photo:www.vanguardngr.com

The Nigeria Football Federation have failed to comply with the provisions of the Freedom Of Information Act which was signed into law in 2011.

This was observed after the coach of the Super Eagles Sunday Oliseh informed the media that he is being owed salary in arrears.

Oliseh was said to have received upfront payment, but with the recent development, it seem not to be true.

The FOI Act allows for the public to be informed about the income and expenditure of any government parastatal or agency, but since the culture of secrecy still trends in our style of administration, it has become very difficult for compliance to be effective.

Nigeria Football Federation is supposed to have notified the public how much it has gotten as subvention and a detailed budget of how national team coaches would be paid.

Can Oliseh Qualify The Super Eagles When He Is Being Owed Salary?

The coach of Super Eagles says he has not been paid his salary since September, while his assistants have also not been paid for the past six months.

He also noted that all speculations being made that he was paid upfront by the Nigeria Football Federation is false.

How do they expect a man that is being Owed to perform well, as it seems to have become a norm that indigenous coaches are always being Owed.

Oliseh noted that when it comes to money, I am disappointed because based on what I am being owed, I should have stopped working he told Footballalive.ng.

It is however very disappointing that the Nigeria Football Federation made the public to beleive that Sunday Oliseh and his assistants were paid in advance.

Who Is Brazil's Greatest No 10 After Pele?

                                       Photo:www.motorcyclegiftcards.com

Pele made it the most famous shirt in the world. The greatest player of all time, the only man who can claim to have won the World Cup on three occasions, it was he who ensured that Brazil’s No.10 jersey became immortal.

Ten players have worn the Famous number for the Selecao at World Cups for Brazil. The mystique it has carried ever since was the subject of a book, ‘The Magic of the No.10 shirt’ by journalists Andre Ribeiro and Vladir Lemos, and it is a number that has since been worn by many of the most talented players the game has ever seen.

From Maradona, Messi and Riquelme, to Platini, Zidane, Laudrup, Hagi, and Baggio, the number has become synonymous with those who hold a special place in the game.
It was Pele who gave the shirt its eternal aura, but who was the best Brazilian to inherit that famous No.10?
RIVELINO - 92 caps, 26 goals

A young Rivelino had to make do with the No.11 shirt when he unleashed his howitzer of a left-foot on world football as part of the majestic side that became champions in 1970. But four years later, Pele had retired and it was time to pass the torch. He hit three goals in West Germany in 1974 but could do little to stop Johan Cruyff’s remarkable Netherlands.
He returned four years later, however, and led the Selecao to a ‘moral championship’ as they exited the tournament in controversial fashion as Argentina blew away a strong Peru side 6-0. Credited with bringing the famous ‘elastico’ dribble to the world, Rivelino was a true No.10, whose magical left foot could be as delicate as it was devastating.
ZICO - 89 caps, 66 goals
Flamengo great Zico personifies the number 10 shirt like few others. He was consummate conductor, strutting around the freedom of the midfield, orchestrating the most enchanting of harmonies. The central figure in the mythical 1982 side that captured the world’s imagination, if not the cup itself, he is the living embodiment of ‘jogo bonito’.
His flawless technique, bewitching dribbling and unrivalled eye for a defence-splitting pass saw him carve out the sort of reputation reserved for the select few able to truly inspire the souls of those who live for the beautiful game. Zico played the World Cups of 1978, 1982 and 1986, and though he never claimed football’s ultimate prize, he perhaps won something every bit as important.
RIVALDO - 74 caps, 34 goals

Rivaldo is an understated character off the field, but was more than happy to take centre-stage at two World Cups for Brazil. He helped inspire the side to the final in France before starring in Japan/South Korea, creating both goals for Ronaldo in the final against Germany to secure the Selecao’s fifth World Cup.
Like Rivelino, he boasted a hammer-like left foot that was equally capable of the intricate, subtle shuffles away from defenders, utilising the trademark ‘chop’ inside that saw him grab 34 goals in 74 internationals. He was the Fifa World Player of the Year in 1999, and could still be seen playing this year at the age of 43 as player-president for Mogi Mirim, with whom he played alongside his son, Rivaldinho.
RONALDINHO - 102 caps, 35 goals

Ronaldinho took over as No.10 for the World Cup of 2006, ahead of a tournament that the local press assured would see him confirmed as a true rival to Pele’s legacy as the greatest of all-time. Unfortunately, Carlos Alberto Perreira’s top-heavy side disappointed in Germany and exited at the quarter-finals after going down to a 1-0 defeat to France.
He wold never play a World Cup finals match again, but is still remembered for his performances in 2002 – notably his remarkable free-kick that bamboozled England goalkeeper David Seaman. A two-time Fifa World Player of the Year, like Zico, Ronaldinho will forever be cherished by the game’s romantics. An absolute genius, he won it all as a player but left a special legacy as arguably football’s most entertaining player of all time.
KAKA - 90 caps, 29 goals

When coach Dunga left Ronaldinho out of his squad for World Cup 2010, Kaka inherited the famous jersey and led a counter-attacking team that had raced through qualification to arrive in South Africa with very real ambitions of a sixth title. Defeat to the Netherlands ended their campaign but Kaka has his World Cup-winners medal as a member of the 2002 side.
At his peak, the former Milan and Real Madrid player was a force of nature, capable of executing the sublime at ferocious, devastating pace. Injuries have since cost him the attribute that set him apart, but he has reinvented himself and remains a member of the Selecao at 33-years-old, adding valuable experience to a side that has little in terms of World Cup qualification. A two-time Confederations Cup winner, he has over 100 caps for his country and will go down in history as one of Brazil’s all-time greats.
NEYMAR - 67 caps, 46 goals

The current incumbent of the jersey has never worn the number of any other team, preferring No.11 for Santos before retaining the shirt following his move to Barcelona. A finalist for the 2015 Ballon d'Or, the 23-year-old is now captain of his country and well on his way to becoming Brazil’s all-time leading scorer. He is yet to claim a major title with the Selecao but has already outscored legends such as Jairzinho, Tostao and Rivelino.
Having largely operated from the left for his club sides, Neymar plays a more traditional No.10 for Dunga, playing almost in a free role as the fulcrum of a fluid frontline. Having emerged in world football as the ultimate individualist, amassing a stunning highlight reel of flicks and tricks, he has now added a devastating goal return to his game and with as much as a decade of international football ahead of him, will no doubt go on to carve out his own special legacy with the national team.

                                       Photo: sportswire.usatoday.com

Lionel Messi returned to training today after missing Thursday session for personal reasons. Although there were speculations that it was as a result of his injury as the hamstring which he suffered and kept him away for two months has not yet healed perfectly.

It was rumoured that Messi had a slight clutch at the back of his thigh in the champions league clash between Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen, which ended in 1-1 draw. Messi scored the only goal for Barcelona even though they had qualified before the match.

Barcelona issued a statement saying that  Messi got permission from Coach Enrique to stay away from training and it was for "personal reasons" but was available today and will be available in the clash between Barcelona and Depotivo La Coruna.

Nigeria Take On Algeria in CAF U23 Africa Cup Of Nations

The final of the CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations will take place on Saturday December 12, 2015 at the Stade Leopold Sedar Senghor in Dakar the Capital City of Senegal. Nigeria will play Algeria, to determine who is Africa's best in the U23 level.

ROAD TO FINAL: Nigeria
The Dream Team beat Mali 3-2 in her first match, drew Egypt 2-2, and Algeria a goalless draw finishing second in the group with 5 points. In the knockout stage they defeated host Senegal 1-0 to secure a ticket in the final against Algeria.

ROAD TO FINAL: Algeria
The Algeria U23 team drew Egypt 1-1 in her first match, beat Mali 2-0 in her second match and played a goalless draw with Nigeria in her third match with five points, finishing top in the group on goal difference ahead of Nigeria. In the knockout stage Algeria defeated South Africa 2-0 to secure a final place clash with their arch-rival Nigeria in the final stage.

ANALYSIS: Who Is Favourite To Win
Both teams have already secured a guaranteed ticket to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics and are only going to be contending for the title of African Champions. The fact that they have qualified will make the match a bit less challenging, because the ultimate intention is to be at the Olympics.

Nigeria and Algeria have developed to the level of playing defensive games, Nigeria worked on this after their first two group matches when they conceded four goals in two matches and all goals were in the second half. Algeria on the other hand have conceded just one goal all through to the finals and this shows how disciplined the young boys are.

However, the match is not going to be a match of defense but attack as both sides already have a ticket to Brazil but will simply be trying to carry the nomenclature African Champions to the Olympics. If both teams adhere strictly to their style of play, Nigeria may win within 90 minutes of play with just 1-0 and this will be based on the fact that the Eagles have a more experienced coach that will handle the boys tactically.

It is not going to be an easy match, but Africa will be on the look for this intriguing final between two good sides who shall lead Africa to the 2016 Olympics.

Mourinho Boast: Chelsea Can Win The Champions League

                                           Photo:skysports.com

Jose Mourrinho declared that Chelsea is a candidate for the 2016 UEFA Champions League title, after his side defeated Porto by 2-0 to make it to the round of 16.

People can argue that Chelsea is not doing fine at our home league because we are 14 on the table and things don't seem to be going on fine with our play in the premiership. But then, its a different thing entirely in the Champions league he told goal.com

When we won it with Porto in 2000, no one gave us a chance to win it but twe won it, proving bookmakers wrong. In Inter in 2010 when we won, it was same thing, no one tipped us to win but we shocked Europe and won the title. Right now no one believes in the team because of our performance in the league, but that will only propel us to win at Europe.

Messi Is The Most Destructive Player Against German Teams In Champions League History

                                            Photo: AFP

Lionel Messi has always been a threat to German clubs at the UEFA Champions League. So far, he has scored a total of 80 goals in the Champions league, but 15 out of all the goals were against German teams.

Messi scored the only goal for Barcelona in the 1-1 draw against Bayern Leverkusen, ensuring that they do not get a winning, in a match that was more crucial to the German side than the Spanish giant. It will also be recalled that he scored the first goal against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the 2015 UEFA Champions League semifinal match after 76 minutes of play and no goal came.

So far, Messi is the only player in the history of the Champions League to have scored the highest number of goals against German teams, recording a total of 15 goals. German teams will always hate him for that.
